I've lost track of the original problem, but this is where I am now with it:
1) Attempting to re-install VAIO Media plus using VAIO Care results in the progress bar extending to 35%, then the message displayed is "The following program did not install correctly: VAIO Media plus. If the program has already been installed, please try installing it again after uninstalling it from [ Uninstall or change a program ] in the Control Panel."
BTW, it is no longer installed, and I got the message attempting a re-install.
2) Upon every re-boot, VAIO Media plus continues to attempt to re-install itself. The failing message displayed is "Error 1720. There is a problem with this Windows Installer package. A script required for this install to complete could not be run. Contact your support personnel or package vendor."
I can click the Cancel button on this attempted re-install, and the pop-up goes away.
